New England Friend Hal Weaver is currently focusing his ministry on using the arts to encourage international understanding and racial justice through The ChinaFilm Project, The BlackFilm Project and The BlackQuaker Project. Educated at Westtown and Haverford, Hal holds a doctorate in international education from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
Beacon Hill Friends House presents this annual free lecture in memory of past Directors, Ernest and Esther Weed. To learn about the House and its program, visit www.bhfh.org. The lecture will be published by the Beacon Hill Friends House..
On Sunday join Beacon Hill Meeting for Worship at 10:30 and a simple meal at Noon. Childcare will be provided on Sunday during the lecture. 3. Delivered the Weed Lecture at Beacon Hill Friends House, Boston on “FACING UNBEARABLE TRUTHS” (4/13/ 2008)
4. Researching quotations of African American Quakers for the revised FAITH AND PRACTICE, New England Yearly Meeting (NEYM) (through WMM/MORE, 2007-2008)
5. Organized and co-offered with triennial participants Margaret Fraser, Katy Cullinan, and Anne Nash a program and dinner for Wellesley Meeting on the 2007 FWCC Triennial and Friends worldwide (11/30/2007)
6. Offered a weekend course at Pendle Hill Spring 2007: “Lift Every Voice and Sing ”: Paul Robeson and Bayard Rustin. A weekend with Hal Weaver (March 30-April 1 2007)
7. Offered a second hour at Wellesley Meeting (“Freedom”), commemorating the 200th anniversary of the abolition of the slave trade in the British Empire (3/25/2007)
